So.that message isn't generated from Quicken logging into Quicken's servers and checking, it's from the software itself. How do know this? Because if I disconnect my PC from an internet connection, I still get the nag message that Quicken 2017 is expired.

It's not generated from Quicken's servers. Quicken 2017, which is sunsetted for years, just has a warning built into the software. I'm not even sure you get logged into Quicken's servers when you have an expired version. Even more so, reference anyone who has had their accounts hacked due to using a "sunsetted" Quicken version.Īnd if your subscription has expired, you have no exposure to outside hacks because you aren't even logging into any bank or server. There are always changes to the data transportation and encryption security standards.įor example, SSL used to be the standard back in the 90's, there were several versions until it was replaced with TLS 1.0, then TLS 1.1, and currently the standard is TLS 1.2, with TLS 1.3 released a while ago.
Maybe I should say, I feel better is I am using the latest updates. I agree that the risk is pretty small that Quicken is going to be hacked on my personal computer.
